Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.
Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.
Performing arts
Dance
Our Junior and Senior dance groups as well as our Boys Dance Group are involved in a variety of performances throughout the year. These include:
- Synergy Dance Festival
- Education Week celebrations at school and around the district
- Learning Neighborhood Shine! concert.
Drumming
Our very popular drumming group also performs at many events throughout the year. Some of our drummers have been part of Djembe, a combined schools drumming group.
Choir
We have a well established and respected school choir which perform at many school and community events. These events include PULSE, which is held at the Sydney Opera House and requires an audition to be accepted. Our choir also performs at the Learning Neighbourhood Shine! concert.
Visual arts
Our boys and girls are offered an enriching visual arts program. As well as the art activities offered to students in class, they also have the opportunity to participate in exhibitions, competitions and events. Some are listed below.
- Rooty Hill Public School Visual Arts Day
- Learning Neighbourhood 'Art on the Hill' exhibition
- NSW Operation Art Exhibition
- Department of Education workshops and camps.
