NAIDOC Celebrations

On the last day of Term Two, we had the Koomurri Aboriginal Dance Troupe visit our school for a day full of fun and cultural learning experiences. The day started with a Smoking Ceremony, Welcome Song and Dance Show. Students then rotated around four activities and learnt about artefacts, weaponary and bush survival. They were given the opportunity to participate in Aboriginal face painting, traditional singing and dancing and boomerang throwing. An Aboriginal artwork was created by all the students who attended the day and is now on display in our school. Students ended the day with a farwell concert which saw students and teachers performing traditional Aboriginal dance moves they learnt throughout the day. It was a wonderful day and a very rich learning experience for all students and staff.
