Who are we?
The Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a not-for-profit organisation within the school, run by volunteer parents and community members. We are a group of parents and the community members who care about the school and its students. We come together to enhance the school experience for our children.
Roles in the P&C:
Roles in the P&C are voted on yearly at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). We need these roles filled each year to have a fully functioning P&C.
President: The president is responsible for being the chairperson for meetings, liaising between the school, P&C and community. They also oversee all subcommittees and functions, support volunteers and act as a spokesperson for our P&C.
Vice President: The vice president/s assist in running our meetings and step in when the president is unavailable. They support the executive team and subcommittees in their roles and foster networks and relationships between the community.
Secretary: The secretary is responsible for creating all meeting agendas, taking minutes at the meetings, maintaining records and all correspondence.
Treasurer: The treasurer must ensure they complete all audits and submit appropriate financial records. Accounting must be open and transparent, with treasurer reports presented to the P&C at meetings.
What we do
The P&C:
- Bring the school, parents, and the community together to establish links, to achieve the best outcome for all students, together with meeting the needs of the school community.
Provide feedback about parent views on issues concerned with the education policies and wellbeing of students, the schools systems and programs.
Organise fun events to help raise funds for the school.
Provide funds to purchase additional learning or environmental resources needed by the school.
Volunteer for the school wherever possible.
Meetings
Meetings happen twice a term in weeks 5 and 10 and consist of parents, carers, teachers and community members getting together to make decisions, fundraise and contribute however we can to improve the quality of the school and the school experience for each student.
Fundraising
Fundraising is a huge part of what we do as a P&C committee. We have several stalls throughout the year and do a variety of other fundraising including raffles and mufti days. Activities will vary from year to year to keep things interesting and it is dependent on what’s available to us at the time. We rely heavily on volunteers to help with the different fundraisers throughout the year.
Other ways to support
There are so many ways to support the P&C throughout the year if you don't have time to volunteer.
Donate prizes for our raffles and stalls - We take donations throughout the year as well as make announcements when the event is taking place for donations.
Attend our functions - If there's a function in which parents can attend, please come down and join in on the fun.
Attend a meeting - Attend one of the many P&C meetings we have throughout the year. There is no obligation to attend them all you are free to come when you can make it.
Make a donation - Make a financial donation for fundraisers we do throughout the year.
Interact with our posts – We share posts in the community Facebook group throughout the year. Sharing, liking, or commenting on these posts help to get the word out and remind other parents of upcoming events.
